El Gauchito - Empañadas, Meat Grill, Rice & Black Beans, Tiamisu & Creme Brûlée

Quarantine supper tonite...   Live from NYC...

Sunny...  high clouds...  bright blue skies...  76°F on the thermometer...  delightful...  no jackets required...  a fat breasted robin feasting on bugs and worms in the grass...  sparrows bathing in the dusty remains of the puddle at the bottom of the drive...  squirrels out digging in the soft earth... disturbing our hostas...  digging them up...  replanting them elsewhere...  furry little gardeners!

Iced coffee ☕️ and a banana out on the deck...  the hubs enjoying his oatmeal cinnamon and raisins with his hot joe...  a relaxing morning prior to visiting Mom and bringing her weekly groceries.  A quick trip to the market ahead of our visit to bring her the freshest produce, chicken and fish...  NYC’s covid numbers have declined significantly in the past weeks as a result of many residents having been immunized allowing us to visit the market and bring groceries directly to her...  no longer necessary to take them home for santitizing prior to delivery...  a big relief!  Mom is doing well...  making plans to begin playing bridge with her friends this week... and going out to dinner to celebrate a couple of May birthdays as well...  life slowly returning to her group.

Supper tonite...  our first foray in 15 months to a restaurant with the family!! A local Argentinian spot we all love...  El Gauchito... right here in Fresh Meadows...  fabulous food...  with an al fresco dining space that gave the six of us our own little room in which to enjoy our meal.  A triumph...  homemade rolls with chimichurri...  beef empañadas...  short ribs, skirt steak and NYStrip served on a small grill...  rice and beans and a delicious salad...   a lovely glass of Argentinian Malbec and dessert...  café americano and creme brûlée  for the hubs...  cappuccino and tiramisu for yours truly.  A delight...  all served by masked waiters in a spotless eating space 😋🥰❤️

The reduction in infections is having an impact on quality of life...  we are so grateful to be able to resume some small part of normalcy...  #GetYourJabOn and join the party...  until then...  mask up...  limit interactions...  sail through the market and wash those germy hands 😷💕

How was your day?   What’s on your plate?    Thoughts?
