Hunters Casserole

 Resurgence supper tonite… Live from NYC… 

Rain… clouds… cool temps… more rain… bah 😒 our first nor’easter of the season… so far 4” of rain in the bucket… tonite the winds arrive… gusts up to 45 mph… lots of howling and moaning…  gale blasting down the avenue… house groaning against the onslaught…  birds… squirrels… all hiding from the storm ☔️⛈ 💨 

Breakfast inside… iced coffee🧋toasted multigrain seeded bread with swiss… the hubs… hot java ☕️ with the last of the scones…  paperwork day 😩 the hubs in his workshop 🔨🪛 hubs off to PT late afternoon during a break in the storm… zooming off to the market meanwhile for a quick shop… by pick up time raining heavily once again… car splashing through widening puddles… glad to be indoors once again 🚘 

Supper tonite… hunters casserole… a venison based shepherds pie… perfect for a stormy night… ground venison browned with onion, garlic, salt, pepper, dry mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce and a splash of wine 🍷 once cooked through adding in frozen peas and corn… off the heat tossing together… spread in a 10” Pyrex and topped with luscious mashed potatoes mixed with salt, pepper, butter and sour cream… yum… baked at 400°F for about 30 minutes until the top began to brown at the tips… so comforting  and delicious… though not very photogenic 🤣  Dessert… orange 🍊 segments and tea 🫖 

Half a million folks worldwide still catching covid each day… waiting for their vaccines 💉 think of how lucky we are here in America… this pandemic is far from over… we are now approaching flu season #GetYourJabOn  take responsibility for your health… get vaxxed 💉 

Mask up… limit interactions… jog through the market and wash those germy hands 💕😷
