Restoration supper tonite... Live from NYC...
Spring returns to the Big Apple... temps in the low 70’s... mild breeze... bits and bobs of sunshine... clouds accumulating as the day wears on... rain possibly threatening for tonite. Still no peeks from our tenant... all quiet on the northeastern front... waiting for a feather to appear. The nest about 8” across... neatly woven amongst the light fixture on our garage... just under the eve... giving the occupants some cover from rain and wind... waiting anxiously for movement... lots of fledglings making maiden flights... their characteristic swooping diving and vigorous wing flapping almost comical... landing with a plop on any available surface. Mama still around to bring food for her chubby offspring.
Iced coffee 🧋on the deck... the hubs enjoying his hot cup with cottage cheese and a fruit salad topping... Mr Sam snoozing under a chair in the shade... chatting about activities of the day and supper possibilities... leftover chicken on the menu... sides to be determined at the market.
The hubs disappearing into his workshop to make a final test of Mom’s dryer... off to the market for our weekly stash. This time to a different market... specifically for olive oil and cheeses... their speciality... came back with five cheeses and three bottles of good Greek olive oil. So delicious... love the flavor of Kalamata olives.
Late afternoon wine and cheese out on the deck to celebrate the newest additions to the cheese drawer... soft baby swiss... sharp Wisconsin cheddar... creamy havarti... and a slightly funky Camembert... alongside raspberries... blueberries... roasted salted almonds and the last of the Cabernet 🍷 Mr Sam enjoying tiny tastes of each cheese... he is such a beggar 😻
Supper tonite... leftover grilled chicken with spanakopita for the hubs... spanakopita solo for yours truly... purchased from the market (delicious)... mango peach plum kiwi fruit salad... ice cream for dessert... refreshing and filling.
NY... once the epicenter of covid... now has the lowest infection rate in the US... we are proud of our residents accepting the vaccine and lowering hospitalizations and deaths to near pre-pandemic levels... plenty of work still left to do... not vaxxed yet? Oh dear... make that appointment and #GetYourJabOn be part of the good news... until then... mask up... limit interactions... scoot through the market and wash those germy hands 😄💕
